School Meals
School dinners are prepared in our onsite school kitchen by our catering team. As junior age children are not entitled to universal free school meals, school dinners come at a cost of £3.25, which can be paid for through the Arbor parent app. School dinners include a main meal, dessert and drink.
There is always a varied meal choice including a hot meal with a vegetarian option alongside potatoes/pasta/rice and vegetables, with salad and bread available daily. This is also supplemented by either jacket potatoes, sandwiches or a pasta dish on rotation throughout the week. Dessert options also include fruit or yoghurt options daily.
Each morning, the children choose their lunch based on the options available. Children can decide from day to day whether they would like to have a school meal or bring a packed lunch.
Please see the Derbyshire Services for Schools website for more information about school meal menus.
No nuts in school
Bradwell Junior School is a nut-free school. We have children with severe nut allergies who are at risk of significant reactions even being in close proximity of a food containing nut products like hazelnut filling. Please ensure that any food brought to school by your child - for instance in their lunchbox - do not contain nuts for the safety of all our children.
Free School Meals
Free school meals are available for all children aged 3-18 years, should their families qualify.
Free school meals are offered to all qualifying children across the country. Not only could it save up to £400 per child for families themselves, but the government also provides additional funding of over £1,000 per child for schools to support them in school too. This additional funding is often used to help support families with costs of trips or academic support within school.
At lunchtime, all children eat together and there is no distinction made between those receiving free school meals and those who do not.
It's a simple process and we would urge all our families to see if they qualify. Just log into the speedy free school meal checker system to see if your child is eligible or scan the QR code to check and apply:
