Ethos and values

Our vision is to prepare our children socially, emotionally and academically for life in the modern world, raising their aspirations and enabling them to value their uniqueness. They will leave us as respectful and resilient individuals with a love for learning and a strong sense of the difference they can make in the world.

At Bradwell Junior School, we have built everything we do in school, including our curriculum, around the value of respect. We believe respect for ourselves, other people, our learning and the environment makes Bradwell Junior School the welcoming place that it is. Through building resilience in a safe, nurturing environment, we believe that we will have happy and secure children who relish challenges and have ambition. Learning from each other and working together actively in partnership with families creates a united team which strives for 'outstanding achievement for all'.

Respect for ourselves

We know who we are as individuals, have high expectations of our own behaviour by making considered choices and taking responsibility for our actions. We have resilience to take on challenges and take pride in our achievements.

Respect for other people

We show respect for other people in thought, word and deed. Not only showing tolerance but also celebrating the diversity of life so that everyone feels welcome to be their unique self. We support and stand up for each other, ensuring everyone has what they need to succeed. We allow everyone the same opportunities to learn as we have for ourselves.

Respect for our learning

We actively engage in our learning by participating and asking curious questions. We reason and explain our thoughts carefully, working collaboratively to solve problems. We rise to challenges through effort and perseverance, accepting help when offered. We accept mistakes as part of the learning journey and learn from them.

Respect for our environment

We care for the environment and everything within it, both in school and the wider world. We care for the environment and everything within it. We learn from and within the natural world and know the part we can play in protecting the environment.

Respect, resilience, raising aspirations

We believe that for us to have rights, we have the responsibility to protect them. At Bradwell Junior School, everyone has the right to:

  • Feel safe, cared for and respected.
  • Learn to the best of their ability without disruption.
  • Be treated equally as the unique person they are.

So, everyone has the responsibility to:

  • Respect the rights of others.
  • Accept consequences for their behaviour.
  • Treat people as they would wish to be treated.
